Welcome to the Ouffer Travel Blog, where you can read first hand reports from our expert team of travel consultants, jam-packed with photos and real accounts. The blog has been prepared by travel experts who have visited the hotel.

Our latest deal is for eight luxurious nights of complete resort relaxation at the self-rated five-star Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa in the heart of Bali’s “Millionaire Row” area, one of the area’s most famous resorts. This deal is sure to please couples and families alike – those looking to not lift a finger during their holiday will surely be pleased that it’s completely possible to not even leave the resort once. Others will be glad to hear that there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby to cater to all tastes, including the upscale Bali Collection shopping center.

Arrival at the Resort

From the moment we drove up to the resort in the private vehicle that was waiting for us at the airport (just a 25-minute ride), we noticed that the expansive grounds (23 acres, to be exact!) are beautifully manicured and contain many a nod towards Bali’s unique culture. Ornate statues and carvings dot the grounds and provide a great sense of place, where other resorts tend to lose that cultural flavour easily.

The high ceilings  and golden wood tones in the lobby were immediately impressive, and let me tell you – first impressions count! Not to mention the magnificent fountain that serves as a centrepiece to it all. The check-in process was flawless and we were almost instantly shown to our room.

The Rooms

There are 382 rooms and suites at Nusa Dua Beach, each modern after a recent refurbishment, and decked out in traditional and charming Balinese style. Dark wood panels, mouldings and floors give up the luxe factor in each room, as do the natural coloured linens and curtains. Flat screen TVs and Internet are the standard in each room, but as the rooms get grander, so do the amenities. The package includes eight nights in a Deluxe Room at the resort, shown here:

Each Deluxe Room enjoys a terrace or balcony, and a spacious bathroom with a rain shower. For those taking the VIP Upgrade, you’ll get to experience a larger more stylish Premier Room.

The resort’s Premier Rooms add an extra sitting area to the configuration of the Deluxe rooms, and also add a separate shower and bathtub to the elegantly marbled bathroom.

Those looking for the best the resort has to offer should consider upgrading to the Couples-Only Palace Club Package. This includes an upgrade to an enormous Palace Club Room, with a spacious living room and bedroom and lavish hand-loomed fabric furnishings.

Those staying in the Palace Club, an exclusive section of the hotel reserved for the most discerning guests, will also have access to the Palace Club Lounge.

The Grounds:

Not only does Nusa Dua Beach have an expansive pool with tons of lounge chairs and a convenient pool bar (you don’t need to leave the water!), the resort actually has three swimming pools and two children’s pools in total.

The shallow lagoon is perfect for kids still getting their bearings in the water (there’s a children’s pool too), or for those who like to simply sit in the cool water while basking in the sun. Each pool is set in lush green gardens and surrounded by swaying palms and Balinese architecture. It’s absolute bliss.

We happen to think that a resort is nothing without great beach access, and Nusa Dua Beach Hotel has just that. There’s a 150-metre stretch of  white, sandy beach just outside the resort, lined with lounges and lapping blue waters just waiting for you to dive in. Snorkel gear, glass bottom boats, aqua volleyball, canoes, rafting, scuba diving, surfing and mountain bikes are available at the resort as well to help you pass your time in paradise.

The Spa

01 spa reception3

The spa at Nusa Dua Beach is an experience in itself. The modern Balinese design of the hotel continues here, providing a sense of peace and calm throughout all of the spas facilities.

And facilities it has. The spa at Nusa Dua Beach is home to plunge pools, aromatic saunas, cool dips, steam rooms, a jacuzzi, a 25-metre lap pool, massage rooms and private spa pavilions. We became semi-addicted to the indigenous Balinese treatments that the spa specialises in, like their traditional Balinese Facial and the Santan Kani and Lemurut massages. The spa facilities are open to all guests but manage to maintain a sense of calm, thus being a great spot to escape from the rest of the resort for a few hours of silent rejuvenation, even if you’re not booked in for a treatment. There’s a café with healthy spa cuisine too.

I’d like to think that at some point in my life I’ll reach a time when I find it important to keep up with fitness while on vacation. If I ever do, Nusa Dua Beach certainly seems like the perfect destination for me. For those looking to stay active, the resort offers yoga classes, tennis, squash and basketball courts and a huge fitness centre with state of the art machines. Best part is, it’s almost always empty! No waiting for the treadmill, here.

Whether you’re at the spa, doing yoga or working out, it’s great to know that there’s a kids’ club where your children can hang out while you have some time to yourself. You’ll have a few minutes off, while they’re off having fun.

Dining and Nightlife

When we said there’s no need for you to leave the resort grounds if you don’t want to, we meant it. Nusa Dua Beach Hotel is home to five restaurants and four bars, all of different styles, locations and designs. Whether you’re looking for casual, beachside dining, or an intimate, romantic evening, there’s something for you. Not to mention that the resort offers 24-hour room service.

At the Chess Restaurant, you can wine and dine on the beachfront. The restaurant is open every day from 12 noon to 10:30pm (the bar stays open until midnight,) and speaking of bars – this offer includes ‘All-Day Happy Hour Prices’ at all on-site bars (two-for-one cocktails). All-Day Happy Hour is our kind of happy hour. There’s an extensive menu here featuring international and local favourites, and there’s a seafood dinner with fire dancing every Friday night.

Other restaurants include Wedang Jahe serving international and local dishes at breakfast time, Raja’s Restaurant serving Balinese specialties, Sandro’s Pizzeria with delicious wood-oven pizzas and Maguro Asian Bistro.

Several times a week the resort puts on a sumptuous banquet with live dance performances at the Budaya Cultural Theatre. Three of such banquets are included in the deal, meaning guests will get to experience authentic Indonesian-inspired buffet dinners with Kecak dancing, Legong dancing and – our favourite – fire dancing. Each performance offers an intimate look into Balinese tradition and culture.

Still have an insatiable appetite for Balinese culture? Head to the engaging Bali Nusa Dua Theatre (just a leisurely drive away) for an unforgettable experience. The theatre is home to the incredible Devdan Cultural Show – a spectacular sound, light and acrobatic display that takes centre stage and leaves audiences awed with a mix of traditional song, dance and flair.

Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa - The Lobby Bar Terrace1

After long sun-drenched days filled with adventure and excitement, there’s nothing better than relaxing in the hotel’s trendy Lobby Bar (open until 2am) for cocktails in a lounge environment.

The comfortable couches on the open air veranda make the perfect place to enjoy the bar’s killer mojito and toast to another perfect day amid the beauty of the ‘Island of the Gods’.

“Amazing Holiday”

Five out of five stars – Reviewed 2 February 2015

‘I’ve traveled the world and stayed in all sorts of Hotels/Resorts and I cannot fault this beautiful Hotel. The presentation from the moment you enter the grand and peaceful foyer is stunning and will set the pace of your stay. The staff are courteous & offer a gracious Balinese charm. Our rooms were well appointed and modern, with lovely welcome notes and fruit bowls. You will fall in love with the grand and heavenly bed pillows. The breakfast buffet is superb with a huge array to suit all tastes. You must try the muesli cookies…. They’re DIVINE :) We had a huge list of places to go in Bali…and simply never really made 3/4 of our list. We glided & floated in the pools, and sipped cocktails and nibbled on Italian delights reading pool side with fast Wifi. Large scented Frangipanis fall around you and seduce you into holiday mode. We are definitely going back, a wonderful Hotel and we felt exceptionally safe with the most update to security. A must do 😉 WE love this Hotel 10/10′

‘A calm high quality hotel in a beautiful setting with very charming and helpful staff. Enjoyed the breakfasts (we didn’t need lunch). The music in the lobby bar was first class. The Chess bar on the beach with free juice and coffee to watch the sun come up each day was magic.’
