Grand Hyatt Bali

As our Travel Team once again set a course for Bali, we were thrilled at receiving the news that we would be staying at one of our all-time favourite resorts – the Grand Hyatt Bali in Nusa Dua.

A peaceful oasis far-removed from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak, the resort and leisure district of Nusa Dua on Bali’s scintillating south-east coast is the perfect destination for a tranquil tropical escape. With the ideal combination of pristine coastlines, uncrowded beaches, a culturally-enriched local community and an amazing array of world-class resorts; Nusa Dua effortlessly sets the scene for a relaxing getaway.

When you’re seeking sheer Balinese luxury and indulgence by the beachfront, there are few better places to base yourself than the incredible Grand Hyatt Bali.

The Resort

The Grand Hyatt Bali is comprised of 636 superbly-styled guestrooms and suites ensconced within low-rise Balinese villas inspired by the island’s traditional villages. The charming villas are surrounded by serene lakes, landscaped gardens blooming with native flowers, and one of Bali’s most extensive lagoon and river themed swimming pools.

Grand Hyatt Bali

The multi award-winning resort boasts an impeccable pedigree with a jam-packed trophy cabinet including consecutive TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence for 2012 and 2013, and was also named Smart Travel Asia Magazine’s ‘Best Leisure Hotel’ in 2013.

The Bali Grand Hyatt’s breathtaking stretch of pure beachfront is in fact Bali’s biggest beach and easily one of it’s most beautiful.

Grand Hyatt Bali

The five-star establishment has over 20 years of history and recently underwent an extensive multimillion dollar refurbishment in 2013…

We concurred that the money was certainly well-spent as soon as we set foot in the reception – a simply stunning area that makes an impressive first-impression to new visitors.

Grand Hyatt Bali

After a warm welcome, we were ushered to our room without delay – stopping here and there to admire the breathtaking tropical gardens along the way.

Rooms

Our King Grand Room was a plush Balinese haven for the senses. Elegantly fitted with gleaming teakwood and marble furnishings sourced from central Java and boasting spacious interiors (total living area of 49-sqm); the room entails a cosy daybed enclave and a private balcony overlooking the tropical gardens or lagoon.

A luxurious batik robe and fluffy slippers perfectly complimented the lavish ensuite bathroom replete with separate glass-walled shower and bath.

Grand Hyatt Bali

We also jumped at the chance to stay in an upgraded Secret Emerald Pool View Room which contain all the comforts of a Grand Room but with the added extravagance of granting easy access to a series of private emerald Balinese swimming pools and jacuzzis – pure paradise!

The sparkling emerald waters were a hit with guests of all ages…

And provided cool refreshing refuge from the blazing Balinese sun.

Dining

As is expected with the prestigious Hyatt brand, the resort presents guests with a dynamic range of tantalising on-site dining options. We could take our pick from five restaurants and three chic bars that offer an extensive and diverse selection of international and locally-inspired cuisines.

Our mornings usually began at the charming Garden Cafe with satisfying breakfasts enjoyed amid the cooling sea breezes.

The poolside bar’s juicy fully-loaded burgers were an an absolute sensation!

Serving as the resort’s signature restaurant, Pasar Senggol is a must-try Nusa Dua dining experience. Inspired by Bali’s bustling open-air fresh food markets, the unique eatery serves up a sumptuous array of authentic Indonesian and Balinese dishes.

Grand Hyatt Bali

We indulged in a mouth-watering all-you-can-eat buffet dinner featuring delights such as succulent jumbo prawns, roast suckling pig, traditional Javanese pancakes and many more tantalising morsels.

Grand Hyatt Bali

Aside from dining under the stars, part of what makes Pasar Senggol so magical is the accompanying live cultural show. We were thoroughly entertained by the non-stop celebration of Balinese history, art, song and dance.

We also sampled some satisfying Italian fare at the in-house Salsa Verde Italian Restaurant. Our three-course meal showcased the finest facets of traditional Italian cooking – from rich pasta dishes with authentic sauces, to decadent desserts like irresistible panna-cotta with just the right amount of wobble.

Grand Hyatt Bali

We particularly loved the restaurant’s spectacular al fresco Salsa Bar – the panoramic rooftop bar is perfectly positioned to capture the beauty of the setting sun while sipping on cocktails and mingling with fellow guests.

Kriya Spa

Grand Hyatt Bali

A hit with our travelling troupe, the award-winning in-house Kriya Spa promised unrivalled indulgence and delivered in spades. The term ‘kriya’ means ritual in Sanskrit, and the spa provides treatments that draw upon the traditional Balinese healing philosophies of Hindu, Jamu and Ayurveda.

Grand Hyatt Bali

The extensive range of therapies aims to promote positive health, delay the aging process and enhance longevity with the use of natural herbs, roots and essences. Settling in for a one-hour traditional Balinese massage is a must – our group (blissfully free of any lingering back and neck pain) highly recommends it.

TripAdvisor Reviews

“Beautiful Dreamland Garden”

Five out of five stars

“Fantastic! A very beautiful resort and friendly staff. We stayed there for 3 days, wish we could stay a bit longer. I will definitely come back again next time. Keep it up for all staff, you guys did a good job – from concierge to reception and housekeeping.”

“Beautiful Resort”

Five out of five stars

“Fantastic resort… Very beautiful with a wonderfully landscaped garden. The staff were very helpful and attentive. I will have to say that their rooms are gorgeous and very big. We stayed in the east village and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Food is good with excellent choice of restaurants. Given that there is a shopping complex just opposite the resort with ample choice of bars and food I would say feeding your hungry palates would not be an issue.”

“Sprawling yet cozy…”

Five out of five stars

“Sprawling yet cosy beach resort. I loved my ground floor room – huge with a walk-in wardrobe. On the resort grounds, there are a couple of options where to eat, more than one swimming pool to dip into and a lot to explore. The white sandy beach is just nice to while away your time. Perfect place for that much needed break.”
